Maintenance of Matriculation Status
The Office of Graduate Studies monitors the academic progress of all graduate students each academic term. Students are expected to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 (equivalent to a "B") to remain in good academic standing. A student whose cumulative GPA falls below 3.00, or who earns two or more grades of “B” or below in a single semester, may be at risk of academic probation or dismissal from their graduate program.
Students identified as being at academic risk will receive formal notification of their academic standing. This notification will also be shared with the program coordinator or department chair and the appropriate academic dean, who may recommend an academic remediation plan or, in serious cases, dismissal from the program.
Matriculated students are expected to maintain continuous enrollment by registering for coursework each fall and spring semester following initial matriculation.
Students who are unable to register for a fall or spring semester due to extenuating circumstances must submit written notification to the Office of Graduate Studies, their academic advisor, and the office of their college dean. Failure to maintain continuous enrollment without prior notification may result in the loss of matriculated status.
