The Bachelor of Science in Sports Management program offers students an in-depth understanding of the multifaceted sports industry, blending business acumen with a passion for sports. This degree prepares students for diverse careers in sports management, including roles in professional and amateur sports organizations, sports marketing, event management, and athletic administration.
The curriculum covers essential areas such as sports marketing, facility management, event planning, sports law, and ethics. Students gain practical experience through internships, industry projects, and collaborations with sports professionals, providing them with real-world insights and networking opportunities.
Emphasizing both leadership and teamwork, the program fosters the development of critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills. Graduates are equipped to manage, plan and execute sporting events, oversee facilities, and develop marketing strategies. With a strong foundation in sports management principles and hands-on experience, students are prepared to make impactful contributions in a dynamic and exciting industry.
The Bachelor of Science in Sports Management provides students with a basic foundation of the “business” of sport. The focus of courses taught in the sports management program is interdisciplinary and involves statistical analysis, strategic thinking and planning, understanding behavior, marketing, sales, promotions and more.
Once matriculated at NJCU, transfer students must complete at least 30 credits at NJCU to satisfy the university’s residency requirement. Students must also maintain a GPA of 2.5 or better in courses taken in the School of Business. Students must earn a grade of C or higher in each School of Business course (ACCT, BUSI, ECON, FINC, MGMT, MKTG) used in fulfillment of a graduation requirement.
